Featured Artist of the Week: Elizabeth Kalka creator of The Lavender Lizard and The Lavender Ladybug

Name and Business name: Elizabeth Kalka – The Lavender Lizard and The Lavender Ladybug

Tell us a little about yourself and your business: Hi! I’m Liz. I live in San Antonio, Texas and I’m married to a great guy. We have 4 sons who range in age from 2 to 13. When I’m not chasing after the boys, I enjoy crocheting and cross-stitch.

What made you get started in your business?: I have always loved making gifts for friends and family. The Lavender Lizard is an extension of that. I crochet scrubbies, accessories, scarves, and other gifts. The Lavender Ladybug is my shop for handmade embellishments and destash.

Anything else you’d li
ke to share: I’m involved in 2 great Etsy street teams – Etsy Texas Crafters (ETC) and Military Brats. I try to force myself to blog at least a couple of times a week, and I’m becoming addicted to Twitter.

Tell us about your favorite item currently listed in your shop:
One of my favorite items is the tape measure cozy, which comes in a variety of colors: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20983796 I like it because it’s practical and cute!

My favorite from LavenderLizard: I love these cute little crocheted cups that Liz offers in a variety of shades and sizes. They're great for organizing your desk, dresser, craft space or just about anyplace else where you're always amassing little things. Not only are they cute, but they are formed around recycled plastic bottles, keeping them from filling up landfills.

Liz's other shop, The Lavender Ladybug offers handmade and commercial supplies. Her crocheted motifs are adorable and a great way to add a little flair to your own projects without learning to crochet yourself. These dark pink flowers would perk up handbags, clothes, hats, you name it.
